Capreol Santa Claus Parade, Tree Lighting & Candle Walk

SANTA'S BACK IN TOWN AND HE'S COMING TO CAPREOL on Saturday, December 8th!

Capreol will once again be celebrating the Christmas season in style with the return of the much anticipated Candle Walk, Tree Lighting and Capreol Santa Claus Parade.

At 5pm, the Candle Walk will start at the Northern Ontario Railway Museum on Bloor Street, with the Capreol Community Choir singing Christmas Carols. The Tree Lighting will follow at 5:30 at the Capreol Cenotaph. Whinnying in Life Petting Zoo will be set up in the laneway by the Cenotaph from 4:30pm onwards.

(Photo Op) Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with children at the Cenotaph Gazebo at 5:30pm and then they will be whisked away to join the parade.

The Capreol Food Bank “Food Drive” is also taking place and food is being collected at local businesses around town. PLEASE BRING a non-perishable food donation and support this important Food Drive. Bins will be located at the Cenotaph Gazebo & also upstairs at the Arena following the parade.

* There will be a disability/handicapped area located at the corner of Dennie & Young Street for those with accessibility issues in order for them to enjoy the parade and for safety.

The parade staging area will be congested. To ensure the safety of participants and floats, please avoid using Lincoln Crescent during this time if possible.

PARKING/ROAD CLOSURES:

Parking is free and available in the downtown core (except surrounding the CENOTAPH) as well as the side streets and Arena area. Please be mindful of safety when you park. The side streets of the parade route will be closed this year to traffic. The Greater Sudbury Police Services (GSPS) will be on hand to help direct traffic, assist with parking availability and blocking off access routes. No traffic will be permitted to go thru the parade route zone after 5:45 pm, so plan accordingly.

Remember that Parade Marshalling is in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable event. Some delays and congestion are expected, however, please respect the Police and Traffic volunteers.
